Trump is destroying us from the inside. It is time for him to get out of the way.
Despite President Donald “I take no responsibility for any damaging delays in the U.S response to the first signs of the dangers of the Coronavirus”, it is difficult (actually it is impossible) to ignore the evidence to the contrary. His continued mishandling and misconduct of the affairs of state have now culminated in what must now be considered his Crown Piece of the Abysmal and the Abominable Administration, The Coronavirus Debacle. Never before have his massive shortcomings become so crystal clear to a nationwide audience. In the new light of a non-spin-able health crisis, his preening and Mussolini like mugging and stomping are more cartoonish than ever….and his only other modality of speechifying, which is reading from a script, (typically written with the deft touch of a student of the “Stephen Miller School of Butchered and Tortured Rhetoric”, is equally unattractive…unless you have a fetish for robotic readings performed by a “tranquilized stun gun” victim.
After four years of this mis-begotten, ill fitted horror show of a person, we have arrived at the kind of moment that most clear-thinking individuals always dreaded may arrive. And because of globalization, the risk that this failed President is now creating with his continued mis handling of the Coronavirus is the collapse of a world that we will sorely miss if we do not get smart quickly. If the mishandling of the Coronavirus has taught us anything, we (the people) are understanding that we are not so exceptional that we should be isolating ourselves from other country’s problems. Global problems require global partnerships. Instead of withdrawing per Donald’s myopic vision, we should be leading by example…even if our past examples have been… and currently need improvement…not abandonment.
At the rate we are going now, resources that are essential for complex problems solving are still being managed unsustainably. Problems abound beyond just the headline Virus. For example, experts from the Department of Agriculture to U.C. Davis tell us that our food supply problems are just a few short years from causing unprecedented starving in a world that should have zero malnourishment, much less starvation. Fisheries around the world are being mis-managed, and they’re getting depleted. Farms domestically and around the world are being equally mis- managed. Soil, topsoil and fresh water globally, are being wasted. Crop rotations are abandoned for short term gains. The meat industry is a waste of resources in magnitudes of not even measurable. Pesticides are poisoning the food supply. With all these food issues alone, we may not last until 2050…which means that by 2050 either we figure it out…or we may as well buy a ticket for that long ride to Mars.
Perhaps, it has taken a global pandemic, a possible threat to our world’s very existence, to get the willfully blind among us to finally acknowledge this current crisis…the absolute inept and corrupt White House, which has been ruining people’s lives for the last 4 years. There is no need for me to recount the various blunders and the missteps taken with respect to Coronavirus and the amount of suffering caused by the delayed and/or lack of correct action. Just keep in mind that this is not this administration’s first Rodeo starring the King of Corruption and Ineptitude, or as Rachel Maddow describes him, “The Fountain of Nonsense”… consider the Kurds in Syria; consider what he did in Ukraine; the cages along our Southern border; the people in Puerto Rico…all still suffering… and these examples are not even the half of the waste and suffering that we know about.
And do not forget that Donny’s disasters do not occur within a vacuum. They happen with the willful assistance of a GOP, so venal, so greedy, so corrupt… that they all must be swept out of office along with the fool to whom they so cowardly relinquish any remaining vestiges of honor. Only then can we restore a united, positive, progressive, forward-thinking Administration (be it Biden or Sanders) to address the many, many, problems that we have to start fixing… starting with the following items which may not have caught your attention…but which are going to require a new mental attitude for a united effort of cooperation… if we are even able to survive long enough to be able to manage a national election and an orderly transition of power this November. This Trump Administration has been so busy destroying us from the inside, with either total incompetence or deliberate neglect fueled by an ignorant “Steve Bannon/Fox News” type of “teardown/demolition” thinking, we now are faced with Global problems that require renewed Global Partnerships… not the withdrawing, isolating Trump agenda. We should be leading by example… keeping in mind that our past examples have been in need of much improvement… so it is best that we elect a new administration that is focused on healing and improvement… not abandonment.
So, while we acknowledge that we have giant, “well known problems”…like our national health system….about which much has been discussed…and little has been accomplished, we must also recognize that we have huge, “lesser recognized” problems with the likes of Education…the key to our future…(if we even have one). If we continue with administrators like Betsy DeVos, United States Secretary of Education…and her programs of depriving our educators with the funds to educate our children properly for an uncertain and complicated future, we will have future leaders as incompetent as she is.
And we also have problems with our Prisons and a racist and biased Judicial System that creates the outsized incarceration crises, which line the pockets of prison developer opportunists, while destroying the lives of millions of American people of color. Why the streets are not already filled with the blood of revolution is a testament to the racist propagandizing that has the glut of guns on our streets being turned on the victims against each other, infighting for the scraps left to them by the most lopsided economic wealth distribution system in the history of civilized society.
To say that we have problems with balancing individual interests with community interests, could be the “unfair wealth distribution” understatement of the last 250 year of our Democracy! And still, for those who are the greatest victims, those who are lowest on the list of our disproportional wealth distribution…they are also among those people who are least likely to take the time to educate themselves of the extent to which they are being ripped off.
Instead of googling porn sites or cooking sites or dating sites or para-military training sites…or whatever their passion or fetish may be, our young people (each and every one of them), progressive or conservative, whether they support Bernie or Joe…or even (God Forgive you) Trump….try availing yourself of the available tools to educate yourself…to be smart. Your life may depend upon it…especially if corporate and governmental interests do not step up to the plate to join in the effort to heal our country…and by extension the world… as well they should.
Ultimately it will be up to each of us…individually and jointly, to make a difference. WE are the last best hope, the last line of resistance. And if we all step up individually and together, we will bring the corporate and the governmental interests with us…for a triple best hope and for a triple line of resistance…so that everyone can more fairly participate in the great benefits of the wealthiest nation in the history of the world…from equal medical treatment to equal civil rights…to fairer opportunities for a lives of dignity for themselves and their families.
And that is the way it should be for the future!
