I’ll have the “Face Saving, Censure Sandwich”…to go.

If all United State Senators…but especially GOP Senators, decide to take a bite of this sandwich, filled (such as it is) with health inducing properties, the legacy of the world’s alleged “greatest deliberative body,” The United States Senate, may escape the debilitating infection of the “mysterious and inexplicable epidemic of spinelessness” that has attacked the Washington D. C. area during the last several years. Like many “health foods” this “censure concoction” may not be the tastiest solution going down, but it is not only good for each and every senator who appreciates the individual virtue of a bi-partisan preparation, it also has rehabilitative value for the benefit of the entire body. And quite frankly any measure that will tend to refurbish a body that has been suffering from inaction is long overdue…and absolutely necessary.

Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia has provided a very simple way for all GOP Senators to demonstrate to the world that they actually do have (on those very rarest of occasions) something of an appetite to do the right thing. He has called on GOP Senators to censure an indefensible Donald Trump over pressuring Ukraine to investigate his domestic political rival. This is the polite way of describing what Manchin hopes will be seen as a reasonable way for Congress to do its constitutional, checks and balances… oversight duty, as a co-equal branch of government…to constrain (short of impeachment) a runaway president. It may be just the right antidote for an institution with faltering heath.

But let’s be clear. Everyone knows that the person in the White House, currently holding the Senate hostage, is the lowest form and the most indecent blob of Protoplasm to ever have been elected to the highest office in the land. Not even Richard Nixon, who by comparison was a milquetoast, would have so crudely and dangerously strong-armed an ally, (an ally at risk with “hot-war- life and death issues”, to boot) just to gain a personal advantage for himself. A vote to censure a President (publicly perceived as a serial liar and cheater) will be an unequivocal statement that his behavior with respect to Ukraine was so egregious and so appalling, that the permanent stain it made upon the honor of our country can only be partially cleaned up by a recognition by the rest of the government…who want the world to know that this President’s actions with respect to the Ukraine is aberrational behavior which does not reflect our national character… and that such behavior will not be tolerated by the balance of our government which wants our reputation as a good and decent people to be first and foremost.

Or… they (the GOP) could ignore this opportunity and by so doing state for all time and for all history that the approval of this kind of indecent behavior for not only this president but for every president to come is OK… that betraying our allies and undermining our own and world security is perfectly ok…as long as said behavior advances the personal interests of said President…no matter what dangers said behavior creates.

If these GOP Senators cannot muster up enough Integrity to do their duty and vote for a censure (Impeachment Light) to restrain an obviously dishonorable president from shitting all over the Office, the People, the Country…and ultimately the World, then they will discover that the country (including much of the vaunted Trump base) will be only too happy to replace them next November with new representatives who do not cower in the presence of…and who do not bear the stench of too close proximity to… a person who is such a “stinking” Fraud and a Failure.

The stench needs to be removed …everywhere.
