Bill Barr and Mitch McConnell Calmly Articulate the Road to Fascism

Fairness.

In all fairness, you SUCK!

Make no mistake! No matter how smoothly, calmly and reasonably sounding they articulate their policy positions, William Barr, United States Attorney General and Mitch McConnell, Senate majority leader in their recent televised pronouncements are making clear statements in support of a Dictatorial State…not the Democratic State that has served us so well since 1776.

My own adoption of a progressive liberal agenda isn’t about being nice…or cum bah yah or even “we are all created equal…so back the hell up”. It’s about basic Fairness and living by the golden rule, a simple concept by which we acknowledge that we do not wish to be mistreated by others…and accordingly we agree to similarly NOT mistreat others. Mistreatment includes but is not limited to imposing or creating evil, violence, trauma, suffering and death. What is happening right now in our world is about understanding the ways that systemic power, systemic oppression and systemic evil… inter-relate in our current world to create terrible systems of oppression and resulting dehumanization. How unchecked Presidential power is trying to sneak up on us. In that regard, please note:

1. In the wealthiest country in the history of the world, we have leaders who incarcerate children (toddlers) in filthy, disease ridden death cages;

2. With the greatest military machine ever assembled, we have leaders who betray and sacrifice thousands of our proven and loyal allies to certain death for no other reasons than whimsy and/or personal gain

3. With the most advanced technological expertise at our disposal, we turn our backs on existential issues such as environmental protection.

I’m not fighting for diversity. I’m not fighting for tolerance. I’m fighting against ignorance. I’m fighting for understanding that in a Donald Trump administration, in which all power is unchecked by Congressional oversight, we have already witnessed for the last three years the kind of results that we can expect if unchecked power is aggregated in the hands of a clearly psychologically compromised President…such power presently being advocated by the likes of William Barr and Mitch McConnell ( and other complicit GOP representatives).

These Republicans are so desperate. They correctly perceive that the world has changed, and the power to control the levers of the state can no longer be controlled by the White Male Establishment, who inherited these powers generations ago. But with the 2020 election looming, their hold on power may finally slip away …and if it does slip away, the world will be a better place because of such slippage. Women and people of color finally have a strong seat at the table, and the more seats they get the more terror the former holders experience…and the more desperate their behavior becomes.

These holders of diminishing power will need to quickly understand that if we all do not learn to treat ourselves, our fellow travelers and our planet… more fairly, reasonably and carefully… we will all eventually devolve into a noisy, bitter, incoherent food fight…not your typical junior high school cafeteria food fight. No, this food fight will ultimately expand to planetary breadth and weapon grade intensity.

We are at a Crossroads.
